Getting Rid of Asthma

So how do you get rid of asthma? The answer is simple, you can’t. Asthma is a chronic condition (meaning recurring and long lasting) and because of this fact, no cure is available for it, at least not for now that is. But this should not be the cause for frustration as with proper treatment and careful handling, asthma is very manageable to a point where it would even be hardly noticeable.

But achieving control over your condition is not easy; it will require both you and your clinician’s effort to attain it. Depending on the severity of your condition, treatment can take time before any improvement is seen and you may also be required to modify your habits or the way that you live for that matter.

In order to achieve control you will need to participate more in the treatment process through information, avoidance and precaution. You will need to learn everything that you can about your condition, medication, and treatment in order to know the particular things you need to watch out for, the side effects that you may experience from your medication, and how treatments help you.

Trigger avoidance is another important factor that you should learn and practice as early on as possible. There are already several medical procedures that can help you determine your unique triggers if you are having a hard time determining them. Some of the most common triggers might include, pollen, cold weather, dust mites, fungus spores, and animal dander (dead skin), but of course not limited to just these. Knowing what set’s your flare-ups and attacks off will allow you to take action either by avoiding or taking extra precaution when avoidance is no longer an option.

Changing a few things in your life can also help when dealing with asthma. Simple changes like monitoring the food that you eat or being conscious about your condition can already go a long way and would not really affect the way you live in most cases that is. For those other cases like when the asthmatic is already smoking before being diagnosed with the condition it will really require total abandonment of the habit which most smokers would consider a great pain in the neck, same as when your favorite food is determined as one of your triggers.

Aside from a few simple changes that you will need to make, following your doctor’s advice and learning all that you can about your condition along with precaution, you will be able to achieve long term relief like thousands or maybe even millions of other people before.
